St. Peter’s UCC – Kansas City

Wow! September came quick this year! Today we are loving one another by gathering the choir for our first rehearsal after summer break and some of us are headed to the movies tonite at Red Bridge to see “Eat, Pray, Love.” We’ll grab a very quick lunch and discuss the movie after church on Sunday. Jody will not be in the office Thursday, but come join us Sunday when we’ll remember Jesus together at table. And don’t forget to keep working on your Festival of Sharing kits and to drop your food donations off at church for the Food Pantry so we can keep loving our neighbors!

Remembering Jesus by adding context and commentary to next Sunday’s gospel reading at the “Not the Gospel” Bible Study at 10:00
Loving Each Other by welcoming new Associate Conference Minister, Marc Wessels at a Meet n Greet at St. Luke’s in Independence and continued support for Linda and family during her hospitalization.
Loving Our Neighbor by gathering food for this month’s food shelf and organizing our kits for Festival of Sharing.

St. Peter’s United Church of Christ will hold the annual Blessing of the Animals on Sunday afternoon August 29th at 2pm. The community is invited to bring pets for a blessing.  Pets and owners of all faiths are welcome. 

Representatives from L.L. Dog Rescue and Kansas City Spay and Neuter organizations will be on hand to answer questions about animal adoption and care.  The Picture People will also take  outdoor photographs and provide attendees free pictures postcards of their pets.

Heartland Ringers Bell Choirs, Thursday, May 6 at 7:00 in the Fellowship Hall. Reception following. Freewill offering to benefit St. Peter’s Community Music Ministry.

Beloved, there is someone calling our older church members and trying to cheat them out of their savings. They say they are a pastor and that they have a big prize to award. They will ask to have money wired to them. Please do not give these people any money! Please warn your friends and loved ones! Part of how they operate is by calling over and over and over again until they have confused and worn people down. Let’s help each other stay safe!!!

Our annual mission fundraiser Craft Fair & Rummage Sale is this Saturday, April 17 from 9:00-3:00 at the church. We have a full house! Many crafters, a few vendors and several rummage booths in addition to the church “garage” sale. There will be food available for purchase and bargains galore plus wonderful one of a kind treasures from the crafters. Some of your favorite product vendors will be here as well. So do your shopping here and help us help others!!!

The much anticipated recital of Cari Ann Kreienhop, soprano, will take place at St. Peter’s on March 19 at 7:00 in the Sanctuary. A freewill offering will be taken for the music scholarships at St. Peter’s.
